Abysmal customer service, no actual listening to me as a buyer

Flippa - Abysmal customer service, no actual listening to me as a buyer

I recently went to purchase a site through Flippa, bought it instantly and the transaction went through immediately (funny how they are happy enough to take your money in an instant).

After the sale commenced, the 'seller' (who afterward divulged that he was selling on behalf of another person) transferred the domain name and after many failed attempts, managed to transfer the 'website files' as a .ZIP file. The contents of the .ZIP failed to be compressed correctly, but I eventually managed to get into it.

After attempting to setup the site on my own hosting, I discovered that no dynamic files were present or anything which would actually allow the site to operate as it was listed.... merely large collection of static HTML files.

I reported this to the seller but to no avail, and when I attempted to dispute this through Flippa the customer rep left me the very rude message which you can see attached as a screenshot.

I have had to re-build the site from scratch and is now up and running, all to extra expense to myself ... but Flippa took so long to analyse the dispute (around 2 weeks) that I had no choice by to begin rebuilding the site from scratch in order to make use of the traffic I was receiving.

I however, attached the .ZIP file of non-working website files to a support ticket which the SAME support agent had access too but clearly just ignored.

Flippa then closed my dispute and decreed that I still keep the payment valid.

Absolutely disgusted that I am now out of pocket, spent my own time having to rebuild the site from scratch and the absolutely abysmal customer service!!!!

I also had two separate experiences with Josh W where he was quite rude and completely unhelpful. I try to remember that this peon is, like most, overworked and underpaid.

Did you try to open dispute from your payment processor?

Unfortunately not, this was 'Martin F'

I've talked to Martin F, it wasn't pleasant talking to him too. Martin is the head of "Customer Success Team" in San francisco.

But trust me, mine was worst than this. All in all, Flippa's customer's service is bad and their employees are rude.

Except the guy name Ian, he's very friendly.

Any Chance this Flippa Customer support name is "Josh W."? He is very rude indeed.

Josh Woods of flippa was a nightmare, now it appears that Martin Ford is the new resident "Infant Terrible"

Martin Ford become nasty and will threaten to ban you if you dare use logic or ask him to abide by Flippa's TOS.

Horrid person. He is destroying Flippa with his nasty behavior.

I've taken screenshots of his inaneness.

Very poor customer support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Other poor customer support may never reply to you or give you months response time. Flippa is similar to the second type, but worse because they do it during crisis moment and even deleted my replies in the ticket causing the whole ticket to sound like I am at fault based on my behaviour. Also, they are very slanderous which I have proof. They promised that they would reinstate account upon submitting legal documents but they refused and continued giving reason. In addiction, when my friend emailed them asking why, they said because I did not contact them but I contacted them so much no response from them. Although I am also at fault for breaching their guidelines without knowing, I bided my friend's auction listing and vice versa in addiction in same location, but I explained that my friend had his difficulty needed me to do it on his behalf and my friend even submitted legal documents since Flippa promised to reinstate but at the end Flippa got held of the legal documents and sent us an email saying our account has been banned.

Flippa Is Getting Worse

Dear readers, I Just would like to create this complaint to share my disappointment in Flippa support. I know most of you won't really care, but I think it is important to let everybody know that their support is getting worse and worse and seems to be more focused on making money than helping their members. I really love designing, coding and everything related to web development. I have been using Flippa for a while now and have sold a lot of websites there, most of them for $x,xxx. I am also a 100% seller and have always worked hard to help my buyers develop my websites and generate revenues with them. Anyway, this isn't really important right now. I have also been pretty active on Flippa and helped them to spot a lot of scammers (providing fake income proofs). I did it because I was getting sick to see “newbies” paying $xx,xxx for websites that will never generate any revenues (unlike what sellers were claiming with their fake Paypal proofs). Till now, Flippa has always been great and suspended these listings (pending more proofs from the sellers). But things have changed. Now, Flippa doesn't allow sellers to claim revenues (for brand new sites) in the title of their auction(s). Nothing wrong so far. But lately, I spotted a seller scamming more and more people on Flippa. He has been creating (each week) brand new websites that have generated hundreds of dollars in couple of days. So I started to check his Paypal proofs and compared them to the ones from his other listings. I quickly found out that something was wrong, so I asked him to upload a video proof so I (and all the potential buyers) could compare it to his screenshots. The seller started to remove my comment (again and again) and kept finding “bad” reasons for not doing it. His listing ended with another winner. So I decided to report him to Flippa (with legitimate - and easy to verify - reasons). The reply I received from Flippa really surprised me. Instead of suspending the listing and contacting the seller to verify his income claims, they simply removed the site’s earnings from the title of the auction (but not from the listing). They told me that this website is brand new and that they don’t have to verify the income claimed by the seller (even though they are clearly faked ones). They also told me that the earnings claimed are only an indication and shouldn’t be assumed that revenues would continue in that fashion (I have received two or three messages like this so far). Basically, as long as you don’t mention earnings in the title of your auction, you can say and claim whatever you want. You can list a new website, claim that it has generated $10,000 in couple of days (in your listing description), provide fake Paypal proofs and… sell it to a newbie who will believe all your ***. Flippa won’t do anything to stop you (they might even thank you for helping them to make more money…). This kind of mentality makes me sick. Of course Flippa can’t verify every single listing. However, they can verify the ones that are reported with legitimate and easy to verify reasons. Suspending the auction and asking the seller to send them a video proof of income would have taken them less than 5 minutes. This seller was clearly providing fake Paypal proofs and scamming Flippa members. Flippa knows it but still refuses to take appropriate actions to protect its members… How sad… Definitely time for a better alternative... ----------------------- Couple of weeks ago, I reported a scammer to Flippa (with fake proofs). Flippa support simply told me that it wasn't their job to verify incomes (even though screenshots were clearly fake ones). I guess the seller was pretty happy to sell his website for $x,xxx... The funny thing is that they told me that they appreciate all my efforts to report scammers and asked me to keep doing it... But what is the point to keep doing it if nothing is done?? The last time, they even deleted all the support tickets of my partner after he dared to tell them that he was disappointed in their services and was planning to share screenshots of some of their messages on Forums. So Flippa deleted the whole ticket (as well as all the others). How professional...

Garbage Websites and Terrible Customer Service

The other review couldn't be more correct, the customer service at Flippa is completely worthless. They are so unhelpful I cannot believe it. I have bought many sites as well but dealing with them as proved to be a waste of time.

To buy something on Flippa you really have to filter through a lot of scams and garbage. They know that the sites they are selling are not unique, a total scam, mass duplicated, but you can still see poor customers buying sites for thousands of dollars. I even complained once that someone was posting sites using different screen names because the traffic stats they provided were fraudulent, support said they would look into it and then I never heard back.

Flippa is the worst established site I have ever seen on the internet.

Agreed!! Flippa customer service is HORRIBLE.

I have to agree, the support at Flippa.com is just awful. I tried to sell a couple of genuine unique websites (unlike the normal spam sites on there) I ended auctions early and will sell with a proper website seller.

I had one dealing recently with a seller called PremiumSitez on this site. He did not complete the website transfers and I couldn't access any of them as he had them under his own account after I paid for them!

After days of not receiving any communication from the seller I posted a poor feedback comment, which if you can believe he then raised a dispute with Flippa. He then prevented me from updating any sites by changing the permissions, and left poor feedback under my name! Flippa denied his request to have my comments removed, but then a month later he raised another dispute which I was not contacted about from Flippa until Flippa was about to suspend me, and they still had my comments removed. I asked Flippa to replace the comments as the feedback was to highlight to other potential customers what *** this seller is.

I have raised a number of requests with Flippa to have these comments reinstated, but they refuse, and just put the request into 'solved' status, and when I asked them to provide me with the original email that they purportedly suppose to have sent they'doctored' an email which I know I never received. The first communication received about a second dispute was when they advised me that since I had not answered an email from the day before my account was to be suspended. Please if anyone is reading this DO NOT BUY any websites from this place. I have spent too much money on this site for nothing.

One seller some time ago even used my premium hosting to host a range of his own personal websites, and even pretended to be me to get support he required for them! This Flippa site needs to be put out of business.

You (rich0082) are a dishonest buyer who got exactly what you deserved. You left unfounded false feedback toward the seller that violated their policies by providing, "Content that is fraudulent, misleading or deceptive".

You willingly made an agreement with the seller, as evidenced in the "Sale completion area" to remove each other's feedback and once the seller held up his/her end of the resolution, you backed out of your end and promises in the resolution. The comments made between you and the seller in Sale Completion Area, show clearly that you were trying to renege on a resolution that you and the seller made.

You are liar and you deserved everything you got. Good riddance.

Seriously?? The feedback spelt out exactly the issues with the seller.

The seller also has connections to another bad seller that is clearly available for all to read on the site. Need I say anymore.

Nothing I did was fraudulent at all, considering the seller got his money and I did NOT get a working site. Flippa management really need to take a good hard look at their useless site and the garbage they are allowing people to sell.

Flippa.com flippa websites for sale - Flippa.com is a scam

Just thought I would like to share my recent experience with flippa and explain in my opinion why it is such a *** website. I developed a website and put it up for sale on flippa.com I was getting lots of bids. Over 60 bids. The auction ended and the winning bidder never paid for the site. So I emailed flippa support team and they allowed me to relist the website. Fair enough. So I relisted the website for sale and started getting a lot of bids again. For the second time, the listing ended with a winning bid. As I was awaiting for the winner of the auction to pay (he never did pay by the way), I noticed some punk from India completely copied my website, cloned it and put it on another domain name and put it up for sale on flippa.Naturally I was very pissed off so I sent a message to this thief telling him that I would come to his house and beat him up. Obviously I would never do that, it was just a message in the moment, not to mention I have no idea where the person really lives. So while waiting for a payment from the second auction sale of which the buyer actually never did pay, I got banned! Can you believe that? What flippa.com should of done was look at the thiefs posting which I reported, and ban him instantly, yet I got banned for my bad message. I do agree I should of not sent that message, but under the circumstances it was justified. I put a lot of work into developing such a website and to only find that it got copied and stolen and flippa doesnt give a *** it is up for sale on their website. So some grunt gets to sell my website on flippa, then I get banned. I am out $200 in listing fees and 2 weeks wasted time. *** flippa.com So here is where it gets even more fun:I posted this exact complaint on warriorforum.com and guess what? Flippa.com all of a sudden becomes really nice and decides I was right and re-instates my account. Then weirdly the posting on warriorforum.com gets removed from their moderators. Looks like they don't like free speech themselves either. So now I have been re-instated. I repost my site for sale and notice another seller copied my site. I sent him a polite message telling him to remove the site for sale or I will contact his web host to have the site removed. Those were not my exact words, but something along those lines. So I just got banned again! What a ripoff flippa is. Im still out $200 and have asked for a full refund, and have gotten no response from them. So I am now posting this to see if this will get their attention. I intend to file a lawsuit against them amongst posting this ad in 100's of forums if I do not get the right result that is fair and just. I have a lot of time on my hands to do just this. I am just a small guy against a big lion, but someone has to take a stand. Below is an excerpt from the initial first ban when I got re-instated. I am putting this here because conveniently warriorforum.com deleted this posting. These are the comments in reply to my original posting. As for my second banning, I have yet to receive a reply: EXCERPT FROM COMMENTS RECEIVED TO MY ORIGINAL POSTING: Here is the message that has just been posted:***************That's a bummer dude.First job would be to send a DCMA takedown notice to the hosting company of the offending site, have at look at the Who is. When this is done email Flippa and ask them to reconsider (a) reinstating your account and (b) relisting your site for free, if you don't get a result, consult a lawyer to see what further action if any you can take. good luck*************** Here is the message that has just been posted:***************Something similar hapens with me months ago...forget about it, it? my advice Here is the message that has just been posted:***************Hopefully they will.. I had a few times situation when buyer never paid for the site, and they relisted my site for free after I filed a dispute.. They were pretty fast and ok with me.. I'm sure you'll get positive response from them now, just don't threat with beating any more :) Best of luck Here is the message that has just been posted:***************did you get an email regarding the reason why they did that to you? seeing myself in your shoes, urgh..... i'm gonna track that devil and make him pay for what he did. Here is the message that has just been posted:*************** What I did do is open another account so I could post a comment on his listing and he has deleted 49 times or so. I just keep posting it. I can file complaints, but at the end of the day it will probably get me nowwhere. A guy like that needs to be keylogged or something to really take him down and unfortunately I am not expert in this so I hope to here something from flippa. You think I should send flippa the link to this thread so they can sell all the positive publicity they are getting, lol ? Here is the message that has just been posted:***************You're assuming it will get you nowhere. That's really not the point. The point is to put heat on Flippa. It's not about making it right with you and the lost site or getting banned. I find it very unusual that Flippa would ignore this. If nobody ever files official complaints over things like this, then it will never stop. Enough complaints will cause a reaction. File the complaints and then call the offices to follow up. Be a squeaky wheel, they're the ones that get attention. Here is the message that has just been posted:***************Also, you can find where that other person's servers are hosted. File a DMCA with the dedicated server hosting. If in the US, write or call the states' attorney general's office for consumer protection. All states have this office. Avoid going public with this and saying things online and at social media about this. Even if true, don't slander Flippa in public. Be professional about it, and probably stop posting comments on the other person's auction. Take screen shots of the auction, your site, "his" site with the domain name, etc. And find out where he registered the domain and contact them about this. Be methodical and professional - you'll get results. Here is the message that has just been posted:***************It's amazing what some people will do. I am an avid Flippa member and I too would be po'd if Flippa were to ban me instead of the thief. By all means, you need to file the complaints as described in earlier posts. Stand firm and make an example of what happens to those who steal. Just remember......the thief may have won the fight for the moment...but you WILL win the WAR!!! How??? By making a public display of his dishonesty and what a low-life he really is. Best wishes for justice my friend!!! Here is the message that has just been posted:***************Hi guys, Tim here from Flippa.com. I can report that I've been working through both user's issues. However, when a user goes around repeatedly threatening a user and publishing their home address we are required to step in. Even if the other user is dodgy they don't deserve to have their personal information thrown around the place for any Joe or Jane on the web to find. Joe has had his Flippa account restored and I'm still working with the other user to ensure they don't post anything like that again on Flippa. If any of you have any questions on this issue, shoot. Have a good weekend guys, Tim. Here is the message that has just been posted:***************Oh Great. Warrior Form is really great. Congratulations. Your post here, and your email about your post here in WF, helped you. Great man. If not Flippa would have just ignored you. You did a great stuff by posting the details here. Flippa knows any negativity in WF is going to effect their business. This is a great example to go by. Here is the message that has just been posted:***************I don't think they're backlogged. They are aware of this because you were banned. Something caused them to ban you. Do you think they're unaware of two identical sites listed for auction? There was a brief period when there were two identical sites listed. Now, quite conveniently there's only one. No, they're not unaware. They know what's going on, and it's highly unusual. I would post my opinion about what may possibly be going on, but I think it's not a good idea. It's not hard to figure out, though... You've given them long enough to address this, IMO. Here is the message that has just been posted:***************Hey Tim @ Flippa... you should lift this guy's ban.. the person who started this thread. Do the right thing and let him list his site again. Or lift the ban and refund his money.
